The Matt Brewing Company was founded in 1888 by German-born immigrant Francis Xavier Matt, or F.X. as he liked to be called. After Prohibition, F.X., then 74, was joined by his sons Walter and Frank. Walter Matt, who served as company president until 1980, is credited with increasing sales and many building renovations, including the model brewhouse and Tour Center.
As one of the few remaining great American regional breweries, the Matt Brewing Company has prospered at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Central New York for over a century. Under the leadership of the third (Nick) and fourth (Fred) generations of the Matt Family, the Brewery has earned the reputation as one of the most respected specialty brewers in the country, producing a variety of distinctive, flavorful beers. www.saranac.com

Jägermeister short version: they make an excellent drink....
long version: Jägermeister is a 35% liqueur flavored with herbs. It is the flagship product of Mast-Jägermeister AG, headquartered in Wolfenbüttel, south of Braunschweig, Germany. Jägermeister's recipe is confidential.
It is a digestif spirit similar to other Central European stomach bitters, such as Gammel Dansk from Denmark, the Hungarian Unicum, Gorki List from Serbia, or Czech Becherovka. In contrast to many such drinks, Jägermeister has a sweet flavor. On the web site, Mast-Jägermeister, it is suggested that the drink be kept in the freezer, typically -18 °C (0 °F), and "on tap" machines will cool it to between -11 °C to -15 °C (5 °F to 12 °F).
The original purpose of this concoction was medicinal; being used to cure everything from an incessant cough to digestive problems. It was used in World War II as a field anesthetic. In Germany, it is still widely recognized as a digestif, and is kept in many German households for such purposes, sometimes being irreverently called Leberkleister, or "liver-glue." It is also commonly used in small quantities around the home as an insect trap, as small flies and wasps are drawn to the sweet smell and taste of the drink. www.jagermeister.com
